ManageArtworks Viewer Capabilities – Part 2

January 19, 2016

Pan, Zoom & Rotate

The PDF File can be rotated (clockwise and anti-clockwise, in multiples of 90 degrees).

The viewer also has options to Zoom, Fit to Page and to Pan across the artwork.

Measure Dimensions

Carton and Label dimensions are critical information that needs to be done right before shipping the artwork for printing. A measurement tool feature in the Artwork Viewer allows users to check the dimensions of the artwork online. To ease the task of measuring dimensions, the system automatically snaps the measurement line-end to the nearest grid position. This snap-to-grid feature allows quick dimension checks to happen in an artwork.

All measurements are made in millimeters.

document 2Color Separation

ManageArtworks allows the user to view the individual separations (both CMYK and Pantone).

Visually, the name of the color and its equivalent RGB colours (for CMYK and Pantones) are also shown.

The individual color separations are displayed to the user on demand.

Layer Separation

ManageArtworks allows the user to view the individual Layers of the file. The layers contained in the artwork are displayed by name and users can click on an individual layer to view it alone.

Font Separation

A list of font names used in the artwork is displayed. Each font name section includes the font sizes that are used in the artwork. The actual text in each combination of font name and font size is displayed to users. All the text for a particular font can be displayed and all the text for a particular font name and size can also be displayed.

ManageArtworks also provides the X-Height of the individual Fonts, since most of the labelling regulations mention X-Height as one of the key parameters to check.

The system also identifies if the font is an embedded font or not. This is also an important factor when the artwork is sent for printing.

Embedded Images

All the images embedded in the PDF file are extracted and displayed in the viewer. For each embedded image, the dimensions and the image resolution is also mentioned. Low resolution images will not be printed correctly and hence checking this early in the process saves time and money.

Bounding Box

ManageArtworks allows the users to view the Bleed Box, Trim Box, Art Box and the Crop Box for an Artwork.

Search

Text within the artwork can be searched and highlighted using the search option.

Metadata

The user defined metadata for the artwork can be viewed and edited by authorized users. There is also a link to viewing the XMP metadata of the file.
